BRICS New Delhi Summit 2012

The BRICS 2012 yearbook focuses on some of the most compelling topics of our time, from prosperity and development to energy, the environment, and peace and security. These are among the items on the agenda of the BRICS New Delhi Summit, to be held in the Indian capital on 28-29 March.

This will be the fourth BRICS Summit since the group’s first official conference in Russia in 2009 and marks the completion of the first full hosting cycle among the original members of the influential economic grouping. Brazil, Russia, India and China were joined at the end of 2010 by South Africa.

Contributors to the publication include India’s Sudhir Vyas, Secretary of Economic Relations at the Ministry of External Affairs and Indian sherpa for the BRICS summit; Russia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Lavrov; Brazil’s João Pontes Nogueira from the Pontifícia Universidade Católica; Francis Kornegay at South Africa’s Institute for Global Dialogue; and Yu Yongding of China’s Institute of World Economics and Politics; as well as Jim O’Neill, Chairman of Goldman Sachs Asset Management and the economist responsible for originally identifying and naming the BRIC states.
