The inaugural edition of Global Health – published to coincide with the 65th World Health Assembly (WHA) in Geneva, Switzerland, from 21-26 May – explores how organisations responsible for improving health and well-being worldwide can address the many challenges they face. The publication includes articles from leading global health institutions, including many of those represented at the WHA.
Topics include the national and international efforts in the ongoing fight against the major infectious diseases of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and polio, as well as strategies to tackle non-communicable diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes and chronic respiratory disease.
Featuring contributions from Michel Sidibé, executive director, UNAIDS, and under-secretary-general, United Nations; Mirta Roses-Periago, director, Pan American Health Organization; and Pascal Lamy, director general, World Trade Organization.
Plus perspectives from World Health Organization regional directors Zsuzsanna Jakab (Europe), Luis Gomes Sambo (Africa), Ala Alwan (Eastern Mediterranean) and Samlee Plianbangchang (South-East Asia).
