Asia Society

The Asia Pacific Century - A New Era celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Asia Society and looks at the institution's achievements and future challenges.

With forewords from Ban Ki-moon, then UN Secretary-General-Designate, and the Chairman and the President of Asia Society, the publication profiles Asia's key developments: its economic growth and the region's development as a new global power; and its challenges: building an infrastructure to meet that growth, improving education, healthcare and overcoming poverty.

The Asia Pacific Century - A New Era also looks at Asia's culture and how the region's cultural imports - film, art and music - are becoming more integrated into mainstream popular culture in the United States.

The publication was launched in 2006 at the Asia Society's anniversary dinner in New York.
