London: The City's international financial community gathered at the Mansion House on 8 February for the FOA's 15th City Debate, to raise funds for the Lord Mayor's Appeal.
The theme of this year's debate was 'The Role of Financial Markets in Managing Climate Change', with the motion: 'This House believes financial markets are doing nothing to manage climate change'.
Panelists Eric Bettelheim (Carbon Consultant) and John Vidal (The Guardian) spoke for the motion, while Lord Teverson (Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Energy & Climate Change) and James Cameron (Climate Change Capital) argued against. The evening of lively debate, which was moderated by Gillian Tett of the Financial Times, saw the audience vote against the motion.
Newsdesk Media continues to be a proud supporter of the FOA City Debate.
